As part of the AESOP Congress 2025, held in Istanbul, Turkey, 8–12 July 2025, our team organized a roundtable discussion on Project Management in EU Urban Transformation: Navigating Current Challenges and Shaping Future Prospects in Cross-Border Urban Initiatives.

The event was jointly organised within the framework of the PM4U Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project (co-funded by the European Union) by the Institute of Management, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) together with the AESOP Thematic Group on Transboundary Planning and Governance.

Key contributors and participants included:

Nataliia Yehorchenkova (coordinator of the PM4U project), Oleksii Yehorchenkov, Maros Finka and Milan Husar SPECTRA Centre of Excellence EU

Representatives of academia, municipalities, and professional associations

During the session, participants exchanged insights on:

the impact of climate change and energy transition on urban planning,

governance in cross-border contexts,

practical approaches to project management in complex European initiatives,

and the role of international cooperation in building resilient and sustainable cities.

The roundtable highlighted the importance of collaborative networks and knowledge sharing in addressing today’s urban challenges.
