Veronika Aschenbrierová is an architect and PhD student at the Institute of Management of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. She completed her engineering studies at the Faculty of Architecture STU in the field of restoration and revitalization of monuments. Her main research work deals with the protection of industrial heritage and its regeneration activities in connection to sustainable development. More precisely she is working on her main research with the Coburg ironworks complex in the Horehronie region and its values and potential to strengthen the development in the region. In addition to academic activity, she is engaging with participating activities in civil association Coburgovci na Slovensku (Coburgs in Slovakia), of which she is a co-founder. Its main goal is principally to contribute to the knowledge of industrial heritage in this region and to protect this unknown and overlooking part of cultural heritage. She studied at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany for one year as a part of the Erasmus+ programme, which has been highly concentrated in the urban revitalization of brownfields and restoration and heritage management.
