Silvia Ondrejičková, PhD., serves as the Department Secretary and Scientific Secretary at the Department of Environmental Management and Spatial Planning and at the Spectra Centre of Excellence EU. She also acts as a student advisor. Her work focuses on internal quality systems and, to some extent, the CAF (Common Assessment Framework) quality assessment process, particularly within the context of university education and research. Her academic and practical work centers on “Design for All,” urban safety, community planning, and social work. She participates in various national and international research projects. In recent years, she has held positions at two other universities. At the Slovak University of Technology, she was responsible for the internal quality system, served as Scientific Secretary, and acted as an advisor for students with special needs at the Institute of Management. At Trenčín University, she worked in the project center as a career counselor and as an assistant professor specializing in project management. She draws upon her experience in developing “UMR” (Integrated Territorial Investment) strategies—both for the regional city of Trenčín and the wider administrative region—to inform her teaching, the drafting of strategic documents, the integration of practical insights into the curriculum, and activities such as leading student field trips. She has worked as an advisor in the fields of education, social affairs, and healthcare—collaborating with various institutions (such as the Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union) and contributing to the development of strategic documents. She has also worked in safety and prevention, participating in preventive initiatives, the creation of methodological materials, and crime prevention projects in close cooperation with municipal, state, and traffic police forces, as well as the Integrated Rescue System (112).
Throughout her studies and prior professional experience, she has worked with individuals with specific needs and within organizations that directly provided or facilitated services for specific groups; she has also mentored future professionals who would go on to work with such groups. She has authored various outputs on this subject, including educational films. She also focuses on the timely topic of “Trauma Within and Around Us”—addressing an issue relevant not only to those working with or encountering people who have fled Ukraine. She currently works as a student counselor, facilitating psychological support for students and colleagues, providing career counseling for students, and arranging access to specialized professional assistance when needed.
